A conversation with Diana Clark about the how the masculine identity is represented and intertwined in health and wellness.
We discuss the influence of masculine identity on health and Jeff shares his own journey becoming a mind-body wellness coach following the diagnosis of an eating disorder.
“That’s something that’s especially true of both food and exercise—these are incredible places in our lives that we can use to either become more connected to our bodies or become disconnected. It really just depends on how you use these things.
Jeff Siegel
Probably everybody has had that experience of food being used to disconnect: the mindless eating experience, the eating while driving, the eating while watching TV, the eating while working. And the same can be true of exercise—you can exercise really mindful or you can exercise in a very disembodied, disconnected way that really just numbs you out or completely ignores what your body is telling you.
So I’m always encouraging people to try to do the things that are going to bring you back into connection with your body. And some of that is a lot of unlearning these patterns that have been practiced consciously or unconsciously.”
