A deep dive with my friend and colleague Pete Kadushin on how to create lasting behavior change.
We zoom in on how values and vision unite to draw us closer to our best self, and then we unpack a few practices you can use to build the connection with your body.
“Getting out of your own way…there are two components to this: one is visible and one is invisible.
Jeff Siegel
The visible component is those times when we are aware of the ways in which we’re f’ing ourselves. That awareness could be very subtle; it could just be a little bit of an inkling or a feeling, but there’s some knowing, there’s some consciousness around it.
So many people come to me in terms of coaching saying, ‘hey, I have these patterns, I have these behaviors that I want to kick to the curb.’ Recognizing they keep repeating the same mistakes, so they’re getting in their own way, they’re doing something over and over. This is the visible piece.
The invisible piece of getting in our own way is…sometimes we actually stop doing the things that are serving us because things are going well…which then sets you up for future suffering.”
