Practical Wellness

Talking with Jaya Jaya Myra about my journey to becoming a mind-body wellness coach following the diagnosis of an eating disorder.

We also discuss how food and nutrition play a major role in your mental, physical and emotional wellbeing, and my top tips for creating a strong mind-body connection.

“Food is the nexus of so many things in terms of our own health and well-being, and then socially, too, food is what intersects environments and economies and labor practices and so many other things.
At the symbolic level, too, what are we putting into our body—what we eat eventually becomes us, either in the material form or in the energetic form, so it’s important to be really mindful about that.
Unfortunately, we live in a world where we tend to be very disconnected from the food that we’re eating, in terms of where it comes from, how it’s grown, how it’s produced, how it’s cooked.
Just starting at that base place of helping people reconnect with their meals, maybe cooking a little bit more, just spending a little bit more time thinking about food at a deeper level as opposed to just taking out your app and ordering the most convenient thing.”
