Bro Nouveau: Mature Masculinity

A discussion with Thomas Pierce about what it means to be a good man, what I’ve learned about myself through my marriage, and how to connect authentically with other people.

We also dive into my path to nutrition and wellness via an eating disorder, the limitations of nutritional science, the Big Cs of eating habits, and building back the body to living pain-free. Plus, we talk about mature versus immature masculinity and the next generation of kids, marriage and long term relationships, and the balance between caring for others and being an individual.

“Commitment isn’t something that just happens once, and it’s over. Commitment is a daily practice.
It is an every single day, a turning towards as opposed to turning away.
It is asking, what’s working? And if it’s working, then how can I strengthen it, and if it’s not working, then what can I do to remedy this?
Thinking about commitment as an ongoing process is really helpful.
Otherwise, you can make a commitment one day, and then the next day there’s no follow through, and everything starts falling apart. The commitment very easily deteriorates if you don’t have that constant input of energy.”
